Cingies

This assignment was to illustrate an alphabet, which immediately excited me because I love learning languages and have always enjoyed finding creative ways to make them easier to understand. I currently know four alphabets, and when I was learning Cyrillic, I noticed how many letters shared familiar characteristics with the Roman alphabet. That inspired me to create a fun, hands-on way for bilingual children to learn and compare both alphabets.

 

I created a set of toys called Cingies, along with an accompanying booklet. I designed each character in Blender, 3D printed them, vinyl cut the letters, and hand-painted each one so they could have their own personality. The letters are organized into color-coded groups, with consonants in blue, special letters in purple, and other groups following their own colors. I wanted the whole system to feel playful and approachable, turning something that can feel intimidating, learning a new alphabet, into something kids can actually play with and enjoy.
